Wellness & Preventative Veterinary Care in Houston
Protect Your Pet’s Health & Happiness
Preventative medicine is the science of preventing disease before it affects your pet. In most cases, it’s much easier to prevent disease from occurring than it is to treat that disease. At The KAAWS Clinic, we believe that preventative medicine is key to protecting your pet’s long-term health and happiness.
Get your pet’s health on the right track with preventative care at The KAAWS Clinic. Call our Cypress location at (281) 843-5181, our Aldine location at (281)-549-8717, or contact us online to make an appointment.
A Personalized Approach to Veterinary Medicine
Different pets have different needs, even if they’re the same breed, and every pet is unique! We make sure to take into account your pet’s specific needs when we recommend services for your pet.
Factors that can affect our approach to your pet’s preventative care include:
- Activity level
- Preexisting conditions
Our Houston veterinary team will take all of the above factors into consideration when making recommendations for your pet’s ongoing preventative care.
We recommend that you bring your pet into The KAAWS Clinic at least once a year for a regular wellness exam. These exams are a nose-to-tail visual and physical exam to check in on your pet’s health. We use these exams to get to know both you and your pet as well as to establish a baseline of your pet’s health for future reference. Our Houston veterinarians will ask you questions about your pet’s health, behavior, and medical history.
Part of protecting your pet’s long term health includes ensuring they are up-to-date with their vaccinations. Vaccines protect your pet from communicable diseases, decreasing their chance of both contracting and spreading dangerous illnesses. Depending on your pet’s risk factors, we may recommend a variety of vaccines to guard your pet’s health.
Parasite Prevention & Control
Parasites, like ticks, fleas, and heartworms, are preventable with regular care. If your pet goes outside regularly, it’s important that you treat them with regular parasite prevention medicine. You should also schedule regular parasite screening as part of your pet’s wellness exams. Our Houston veterinarians will help you decide what prevention program is best for your pet.
As an American Animal Hospital Association (AAHA) accredited animal hospital, The KAAWS Clinic has in-house laboratory capabilities to help us monitor your pet’s health on a regular basis. We use laboratory testing in tandem with your pet’s regular wellness exams to maintain a thorough record of their internal health. Our lab is able to conduct a variety of tests including heartworm testing, fecal testing, FIV/FeLV tests, and a variety of blood panels.
